Becky
A kowhaiwhai is a picture of a family, represented by koru's. Me = wave like koru, meaning speed and agility. Sarah = same as me, Mum = double koru meaning nuturing and reflection, Pam = same as mum, Dad = hammerhead shark meaning strength and power and Catherine = small single koru, meaning birth and unfolding of life.
The colours also have meanings: Orange = enthusiasm, happiness and encouragement (Mum).
Yellow = happiness, intellect and energy (Me and Sarah).
Blue = trust, wisdom and faith (Pam).
Purple = extravagance, independence and creativity (Catherine).
Red = strength, power and determination (Dad)
